My life was transformed by watercolour painting after I finished a thirty-year career in health care. I now find deep satisfaction in composing, drawing, and creating a painting, preferring a slow process with multiple layers that create texture and depth.
Born and raised in the Canadian prairies, now living on the lush West Coast, I have been touched by the natural beauty. Detailed paintings of flowers, old teacups, and rusty hardware are my favourite subjects, but sometimes I venture with a looser style into landscapes and other subjects.
One of my recent accomplishments is a series of the provincial and territorial flowers of Canada, created for a colleague’s book “Positively Canadian” to be published in 2017.
My artist mentors have given me outstanding instruction and I am deeply grateful for their guidance. I have also taken numerous excellent courses at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
I am an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and have shown my works at Vancouver’s Federation Gallery and other venues in Vancouver. For more information, click here http://www.janecrosby.com/pages/exhibits-and-events
I love painting in the sanctuary of my home studio. When not in my studio, I enjoy tending my garden, reading, travelling, and spending time with my husband, family, friends, and two dogs.
Thank you for your interest in my art!
